Robert Braswell projected to contribute offensively for Syracuse this season, but averaged 4.6 minutes per game.

Sophomore forward Robert Braswell’s shin pain will sideline him for the remainder of the 2019-20 season, Syracuse men’s basketball announced via Twitter on Sunday afternoon.

Braswell appeared in seven games this season and averaged 1.7 points and 1.1 rebounds. He last played against Niagara on Dec. 28, scoring six points on two 3-pointers. Last year, he appeared in 12 games and projected in 2019-20 to be a factor in Syracuse’s 3-heavy offense.

“He has constant pain and it’s just hard for him to go and the best option is to take some time away and try to get rested, try to do some physical therapy things that would help him,” SU head coach Jim Boeheim said after beating Niagara 71-57. “I think he’s got really good potential, but he really can’t go full speed, and I think this would help him if he did take this year off.”

The 6-foot-7 forward should be in line for a medical redshirt should he pursue it since he’s on pace to play in less than 30% of the Orange’s games.
